Manoeuvres

On your test you will be asked to do one of four manoeuvres, which will be randomly selected by the examiner on the day. The manoeuvre is all about control and observations - making the car do exactly what you want it to do in a given space, without affecting anyone else. You are allowed to make minor adjustments & corrections during your manoeuvre but in reality you get one chance to get it right. I can't emphasise enough how important it is to keep tight control of your speed!

Don't forget to use P.O.M.

  • Preparation first - Clutch down, into gear, clutch to the biting point.

  • Observations - Check everywhere especially the blind spots, look out for pedestrians too.

  • Move - only if it's safe, try to keep the time it takes to move off as short as possible after your observations.

If you haven't practiced a particular manoeuvre with me yet you might find some of the instructions difficult to follow. Don't worry I will go through all of the manoeuvres with you in much greater detail in due course. These instructions are designed to be a set of prompts really just to help you remember what we have gone through on your lessons. If you are unsure about anything you see or read ask me about it on your next lesson :)
